To be college-bound and ready, you must complete the most rigorous educational plan available during your high school career.

4 credits of English
3 credits of math
3 credits of science
4 credits of history/Social studies
3.5 credits in electives
1 credit of non-English language
1 credit of fine arts or speech
2 credits in Physical Education
.5 credits in health

2. Get your working papers!
In New York state, anyone under 18 (minors) must show an employment certificate before they may begin work. Many people call this “working papers." The rule covers:
High school graduates
Minors who work for their parents
Minors who do industrial home work
School officials issue all working papers, except for child performer permits.

3. Create a Résumé
A résumé or resume is a document created and used by a person to present their background, skills, and accomplishments. Résumés can be used for a variety of reasons (such as applying for scholarships and special programs), but most often they are used to secure new employment.
